Travelling with children is wonderful — but only if it doesn’t feel cramped once you get there. In our family room at Hotel Zum Schänzchen in Nettetal, you’ll have the space a family really needs: a cosy place to unwind after a day out, enough room for luggage — and breakfast in the morning so the day can start relaxed.

Many families stay with us for a weekend in the Maas-Schwalm-Nette Nature Park, to visit friends and relatives, or as a stopover on the way towards the Lower Rhine and the Netherlands.

Enough space for the whole family

Our family room is designed so that parents and children can stay together comfortably without it feeling like a “mattress camp.” Depending on occupancy, adults sleep comfortably in the main bed, and there are additional sleeping options for children. This keeps it practical — and still cosy.

If you let us know when booking how many people are travelling and how old the children are, we’ll prepare everything accordingly.

Baby cot, high chair & little extras — just ask us

Especially when travelling with small children, a few things can make a big difference. On request, we’re happy to provide a baby cot. In the restaurant, we have high chairs — and if you need something specific, just let us know. Often, we can find a simple solution.

Breakfast included — start the day relaxed

Anyone travelling with children knows: a good start in the morning makes the whole day easier. At breakfast, you can settle in, plan and recharge before you head out — whether it’s for a walk around the lake, the playground or an outing in the area.

Location & surroundings: nature on the doorstep, everything easy to reach

Nettetal is right in the Maas-Schwalm-Nette Nature Park — with lakes, trails and plenty of greenery close by. Ideal when children want to be outdoors and adults simply want to take a breath in between. And if you’re heading further afield, day trips around the region are easy thanks to the nearby A61.

Practical arrival: parking & pets (by arrangement)

Especially when travelling with children, luggage or a dog, a straightforward arrival is worth its weight in gold: you can park free of charge directly at the hotel and unload at your leisure. Pets are possible by prior arrangement — €10 per pet / night. Please let us know briefly when booking so we can plan accordingly.
